Matthew Shively

Matt has over 30 years of corporate finance experience across a wide variety of industries, including 14 years in financial services, and in multiple roles: CFO, Treasurer, Director of Accounting, Budgets, FP&A, and Portfolio Management. Matt’s first DST 1031 Exchange with Tangible Wealth Solutions (TWS) was all it took for Matt to resign as CFO of Frank D. Azar and Associates and join TWS to attempt to help others reach their retirement goals.

Financial Services Experience

Matt began his financial services career at Fannie Mae, working across IT, Capital Markets, and Corporate Finance. At Fannie Mae, Matt developed multinomial lattice models for pricing callable debt, managed corporate stock repurchases, and earned the Chairman’s award.

At ING, Matt managed the growth of a fixed income spread lending portfolio from $5 billion to $15 billion by expanding suitable asset classes and customized funding products to improve the funding spread.  Additionally, Matt implemented new cash management procedures, new prepayment models, and led the development of a highly profitable Credit Default Swap (CDS) portfolio.

Matt’s financial services experience includes managing a $100 million FDIC distress mortgage portfolio and a $3 billion investment portfolio for SCL Health.

Personal Real Estate Investment Portfolio

Matt made his first real estate acquisition at the age of 22, a single-family home in northern Virginia.  While working full-time and actively managing investment properties, Matt cautiously grew his real estate portfolio in the Washington D.C. – Maryland-Virginia region. The move to Denver, CO in 2021, and the positive carry on Denver real estate spurred additional growth in Matt’s residential portfolio.

Education and Professional designations

Matt earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering and an MBA from Virginia Tech and is a Certified Public Account (CPA).
